Our Pool

Our pools history

Oaklands Swimming Pool was first opened in 1986 and quickly established itself as a centre of excellence for swimming, and was open to all to promote a healthy lifestyle. Sadly the pool fell into disrepair and developed a leak, it was deemed at the time that the repairs were not cost effective and subsequently closed.

Our pools future

Facing being demolished along with the Oaklands School in 2013 a community group was formed, the Oaklands Community Pool, and with assistance from the City Council and other third parties and rescue plan was put into action. £1.7 million pounds of funding was secured and a local contractor, Interserve, was appointed to refurbish the pool and bring it back to operating standards.

Here we are 2 and a half years later with a newly renovated swimming pool boasting:
  • New state of the art plant room.
  • New flooring through out.
  • New ceilings through out.
  • New flooring through out.
  • New changing facilities.
  • New air heating system.
  • New and upgraded air heating.
  • Upgraded lighting throughout building.
So why not come down and take a look for youself!
