OCP Stages 1-7
At Oaklands Community Pool, we have adopted the Swim England Aquatic Skills Framework to deliver our Learn 2 Swim programme.
The programme will take our swimmers through 7 stages which are delivered using fun games and activities with awards available. Children will be moved up groups as soon as they achieve the criteria. Stages 1-3 being the beginner level classes which feed onto Stages 4-7 in which the focus is more on stroke quality and distance.
After completing stage 7, we will feed on to organised sports such as RLSS lifesaving, water polo, competitive swimming, synchronised swimming and diving. We have just introduced an Oaklands Aquatic Club (OAC) which follows Swim England’s Aquatic skills framework for stage 8-10. The classes will cover water polo, synchronised swimming and diving.
Our lessons are ongoing basis throughout the year, this includes School holidays and Bank holidays. We allow 2 weeks holiday for the year which you will not be charged for, these can be booked at reception. You will also not be charged for your lessons during our Christmas closure. Lessons can only be paid for in 4, 8 or 16 week blocks to start immediately. The lessons last for 30 minutes and you can stay up to date with your child’s progress online with our Learn 2 Swim progress tracker. You will also receive an email reminding you to book to avoid losing your place. Please be aware all children must wear swim hats during the swimming lessons, these can be purchased at reception.
